With around 25% of its residents coming from abroad, Zürich is one of the most international cities in Switzerland, and one of the easiest for students to settle into. What sets it apart? Almost everyone speaks English, making daily life that much easier.
Occupying an entire floor of the building, the campus is designed to support both structured learning and collaborative engagement. A traditional classroom provides space for lectures and academic sessions, while a seperate open classroom layout encourages interaction and group work, complemented by two integrated lounge areas for discussion and teamwork.
Our student lounge offers a comfortable setting for informal conversations or reflection between sessions, and our student office supports administrative and academic needs.
Thalwil is home to a major train station with direct connections to Zurich and surrounding regions.
A public bus runs every 30 minutes between the station and campus, with the bus stop located just a two-minute walk from IBAS.
Additional bus routes connect the area to nearby towns and cities, making the campus easily accessible from across the region.
Students are welcome to bring their own meals and enjoy them on campus in the designated lounge areas.
Just around the corner, a small café offers convenient options for coffee, snacks, and light meals. Several restaurants are also located within walking distance, providing a variety of choices throughout the day.
The nearby Jumbo Center, situated next to the bus stop, is a popular option and includes a Coop supermarket for groceries and ready-made meals. Two food trucks located in the same area offer additional quick and casual dining choices.
Students have access to a public library in Thawil about 11 minutes from the campus
Students have access to an indoor pool open to the public in the municipality of Langnau am Albis
IBAS does not have its own student housing.
IBAS provides light assistance and support to all students in locating and renting rooms in student dorm facilities in the surrounding area. However, the final responsibility in securing housing lies with the student. Below is a list of potential student housing, but IBAS does not guarantee availability.
There are over 3,500 rooms available in 65 properties throughout the cities of Zurich and Winterthur. All the properties can be reached very easily by public transport and the majority are conveniently located near one of the university campuses. They range from houses in the older part of the city with simple furnishings to purpose-built student residences and complexes with a modern infrastructure.

- The old timber-framed house on Fuhrstrasse offers luxurious accommodation for 15 students. The property was remodeled in 2019 and equipped with new sanitary facilities. The mix between listed furnishings and modern furniture, makes this property a new gem. The common areas are furnished – the rooms unfurnished.
